How to "put a ring on" your workout routine!!

Updated: Jul 23, 2020

We ALL want to get fit and live healthy lives, but sometimes it's difficult- commitment issues, biting off too much that we can chew to start ... whatever it is!! Here are a few universal hacks to help you along with this!

  1. Create a routine Say what you like, we all are creatures of habit. We do best when we know what to expect and prepare accordingly for it. What that means is, if you have workouts planned for the upcoming week, jot that down in your diary. It also helps to create habit of booking classes in advance, and sync it to your iCal so you can block that time off and plan around it! This also helps create expectancy and make you excited for your workout! If you are serious about your fitness, you will naturally prioritise working out!

  2. Get accountable Tell your friends or family members about it! Research shows that just by telling someone you are going to do something, it increases the rate of success by up to 95%. 😯 Or if you often use social media, you could also post about your desire and decision to commit to exercising... and follow up with photos to show your new found dedication. Not only will you be keeping yourself accountable, you will gain encouragement from your friends, and even inspire others to get more active! Win-win. 💃🏼💃🏼

  3. Create a space you love If you're working out at home, I have found that having a space that you love helps a ton! You don't need to have a huge space. The focus behind this is more the taking the time and thought to curate a dedicated workout space, decked with your must-have equipment and gear so that its within reach when you wanna start your workout! It helps to reduce potential clutter from having your items all over and you will find that just walking to that space changes your frame of mind immediately- for the better😙. By the way, don't worry about getting all the fancy equipment for a start, you will find that you will manage to perform many kickass workouts with a some good music, two recycled 1.5L plastic jugs or a sack of rice, and a trusty exercise mat!

  4. Fell off the wagon? Don't worry. Just get back on it. Sometimes life just gets in the way- work, emergencies, errands, you name it, I get it. And that's ok. We all have things to do other than exercise and try to keep healthy. And we all go through different phases in life where other things might be more important and we naturally put some things on the back burner. But if you feel you have fallen out of rhythm, don't beat yourself up and focus on the strength you have lost or all the work you had put in that seems to have come undone. Instead, choose to just start again. In the words of Aaliyah, "If at first you don't succeed. Dust yourself off and try again. You can dust it off and try again" 💁🏽‍♀️

  5. Recall your 'WHY' Last but not least, this is the most powerful of all- Recall your 'WHY'. Why are you exercising? WHY do you do it anyway and keep coming back for more? What is the real reason you started and keep getting back to that starting line? You will find that the times when we feel the dread or get lazy, we are often not focusing on our WHY. But when you recall to your mind the reason why you wanted to do this in the first place, you will find your attitude changes and -- so does the outcome!!

I hope you found at least one hack helpful that you can apply right away! If so do let me know how it goes for you, would love to hear back!

See you guys in class soon💁🏽
