I'm REALLY new to working out. What classes are best for me?
Don't worry! All our classes are multi-levelled, and there are always scaling and progression options available for every move! With that said, a good place to start would be our Basics class which is catered for beginners!
What does the class entail?
Most classes are 1 hour in length. Each class includes a Warm-up, a Strength portion (depending on the class type), a Workout of the day (WOD) and ends with an optional Cool down. The WOD usually consists of a mix of cardio, bodyweight exercises, resistance work programmed to give you an all-over body workout. We believe fit should be for all, hence classes aim to accomodate various fitness levels and modifications for challenging exercises will always be made available.
Should I eat before a class?
While there are many different theories on this, we believe this is an individual preference. We do ask that you avoid heavy meals 1-2 hours before class. That being said, it is important to ensure your body has enough fuel to power through your workout. We recommend a banana/an apple/a protein bar or drink as your pre-workout fuel these would give you the necessary carbohydrates for maximum energy and prevent low blood glucose levels which may cause symptoms like dizziness and slight nausea.
What is functional training?
Functional training is the engagement in exercises that mimic or recreate everyday movement. These types of exercises typically involve the use of your full body and multiple muscle groups. This style of training builds and sculpts lean, functional muscle – Lifting, Squatting, Jumping, Twisting, Pulling, Pushing, Lunging. We incorporate functional training in our classes as we believe performing them results in spillover benefits into our everyday lives.
